Teeth Whitening
At Lakeside Dental Surgery, we can help you achieve a brighter, whiter smile for any occasion. Our teeth whitening can be applied in two ways:
Pola in chair teeth whitening system:This is done in a single appointment at our clinic where 37% hydrogen peroxide gel is placed on your teeth and a UV light is used to activate the gel which speeds up the teeth whitening process. During the process, all soft tissues (gums, lips, tongue and cheeks) are protected from the exposure of the gel and light. It must be kept in mind that results of teeth whitening vary from patient to patient, but results are immediate and patients are usually happy with outcome. There is usually a side effect of sensitivity which usually subsides in 24-48 hours. We supply a desensitising toothpaste together with a teeth whitening ‘top up’ kit. | Take home teeth whitening kit:This kit involves customised whitening trays and a hydrogen peroxide gel (usually 9%), which the patient would use for approximately 30 minutes a day for 2-3 weeks. Although this method of teeth whitening is also effective, compliancy is often an issue. Before proceeding with teeth whitening it is recommended that you first see your dentist for a check-up and scale and clean. Cleaning will remove plaque, food and debris from your teeth so that the whitening gel is able to penetrate well for a great result. |
